In celebration of Black History Month, WMG member Lisa Durden will share

the inspiration behind Blind Divas, a documentary film she is writing, directing, and producing. She will speak about her journey as a Black journalist, the importance of telling stories that reflect the Black experience, and the behind-the-scenes process—from production to fundraising to marketing—involved in making this film.

Blind Divas follows Krystle Allen and Naquela Wright-Prevoe, two blind Black women entrepreneurs determined to challenge the stigmas and stereotypes about the blindness community. Attendees will:

  • screen the film’s fundraising trailer (which was funded, in part, by a WMG Rise Fund grant).

  • hear Lisa in conversation with Krystle and Naquela, who will share their reflections on participating in Blind Divas, and film editor Rohan Rao, who will explain how editing helps bring the women’s challenges and triumphs to life on screen.

  • have time for Q&A.
